Skin Fact of the Month
Most skin cancers are caused by UVB, which are the "burning" rays that cause
sunburn. The UVB blockers do a terrible job of blocking the UVA rays which are
the "aging" rays. Think B=Burn, A=Aging. The two best sunscreens for blocking
UVA are Mexoryl SX, which is in a limited number of sunscreens, and Parsol 1789,
which is an older, less persistent UVA blocker. Estimates are that Mexoryl SX
continues to block UVA for up to 2 hours, and Parsol 1789 for 30-45 minutes
after application. So, if you want to stay looking younger for a longer time,
block that UVA! |
