Step One: Preparation.
The skin has multiple layers, but the outer layer, the stratum corneum, is the tough outer layer that blocks pores, leading to the condition we call acne. To prepare the skin for Steps Two and Three, we remove the debris and plugs of stratum corneum via a mild chemical peel which refreshes the skin and soothes red, inflamed bumps.
Step Two: Treatment. The Aesthera Isolaz to the rescue!
The Aesthera Isolaz removes excess oil and debris from inside the pores via a suction device, and helps dry up oil production and kill bacteria with a painless pulsed light flash that is harmless to the skin, but deadly to bacteria. There is no downtime, no peeling, just results that last.

What can I expect during or after the treatment?
- The patient should go through a series of four to five (depending on the severity of the acne and the age of the patient) Aesthera Isolaz treatments so as to optimize the response of the skin, as well as to reduce the chances of recurrence of the acne.
- Each treatment in the series is optimized for the patient. Most patients are treated with a medicine during the first two treatments that help shrink the oil glands and also sensitize the bacteria even more to the pulsed light.
- Patients will apply a mild retinoid to their skin at least three nights a week to help keep the skin cells from plugging the opening of the pores, reduce oil production and also reverse the damage caused by environmental factors.
- Patients will apply a sun block every morning, not only to prevent future risk of sun damage, but also to prevent the swelling and pore blockage caused by ultraviolet light. It is imperative that the sunscreen not block the pores, and also that it be able to block both types of ultraviolet light. The sunscreens we recommend are made by SkinCeuticals, and we recommend them because they are effective in blocking both types of ultraviolet light, they are cosmetically elegant (they don’t tend to turn the skin white) and they are relatively inexpensive compared to other high-end sun blocks. And it goes without saying that they don’t block pores!!
- Every three months, the patients should receive booster treatments with the Aesthera Isolaz. These booster treatments keep the bad bacteria at bay, help keep the pores unblocked and keep the oil glands from becoming overactive again.
